What appears to be idle conversation over cocktails between a husband and his wife turns into a convoluted series of something elses in this comedy-thriller about a romantic square that piles one reversal upon another. Despite the game efforts of an experienced and resourceful cast, what barely holds together in the first act falls apart completely in the second in a display of playwright hubris (10/2). Through Nov. 10. Eves.: Fri., Sat. 7:30. Mats.: Sat., Sun. 2. (2:35)

Shakespeare & Company, Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre, 70 Kemble St., Lenox. Tickets: $50-$15. (413) 637-3353; shakespeare.org

Sun. 8. (1:49)
