To the editor of THE EAGLE:
Buddy, a 5-year-old Great Pyrenees dog, was surrendered to our rescue. His nails were about three inches long and they lay sideways on the ground. We had to have a vet cut his nails. His coat was extremely matted and it hurt because the hair pulled. The only apparent option was to have him shaved down.
On Sept. 21, Kathy Kazura at Pretty Paws (http://dawghair.com) in Pittsfield, at the request of Buddy’s new foster mom, came to his rescue. Even though Kathy was on vacation she opened her shop to do an emergency shave and groom on Buddy. He was so good during the grooming. He was a trooper the whole 21Ž2 hours it took to get him free of the matted coat and bathed.
It takes a lot to do rescue. It breaks your heart to see a dog in this neglected condition. But it also brings out the best in others. Since I started with this rescue group I have met some pretty awesome people who give from the heart. Kathy Kazura at Pretty Paws is one of them. If you need your dog groomed she will do it lovingly as she did with Buddy. Tell her Buddy sent you and I bet it will bring a smile to her face. She helped Buddy on the road to finding a new forever family.
We have pictures of Buddy on our website, Facebook page and on www.Petfinder.com
