PITTSFIELD -- Dom Traversa rushed for 128 yards and scored three touchdowns as Pittsfield beat Taconic 54-12, in a City Series game on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, and no round-robin between Pittsfield, Taconic and St. Joseph, the Generals claim the 2013 City Championship.
"It feels really good," said Pittsfield’s Alex Teichert, whose 28-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown in the first quarter put the Generals up by two scores. "We wanted to get after it. We wanted to win really bad."
Traversa scored a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter on runs of 15 and 41 yards. He also scored on a 51-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter.
Devon Tucker scored two rushing touchdowns for PHS, on runs of 36 and 7 yards.
Pittsfield pitched a shutout until the fourth quarter, when Taconic’s Anthony Whitely scored on runs of 8 and 79 yards.
Pittsfield is on the outside of the Division V playoff race, but could get in if a number of dominoes topple in the next seven days.
