To the editor of THE EAGLE:
As a lifelong resident of Pittsfield and an educator, I have followed the workings of our School Committee with particular interest, and I believe it’s time for new faces and fresh ideas. That is why on Nov. 5 I will be voting for Pamela Farron for School Committee.
In her role as Berkshire Community College’s coordinator of disability services, Pam is and always has been a strong advocate for at-risk students. However, her contributions to the college go beyond that advocacy.
I have worked closely with Pam in the classroom, team teaching a freshman seminar course. We were both members of a high school/college collaborative team that created and ran Project Connect, a successful summer transition program recognized nationally for its innovation. I also have witnessed Pam’s resourcefulness during times of budget cuts, when she worked tirelessly to provide the services so many of our students need.
What I find most impressive, however, is Pam’s willingness to listen and work to meet the needs of students, their parents, and the college.
I believe Pam would bring energy, intelligence, and dedication to the Pittsfield School Committee. I encourage you to vote for Pamela Farron.
