PITTSFIELD -- Despite the looming burst of snow, Pittsfield officials say tonight’s tree lighting ceremony in Park Square and the downtown First Fridays Artswalk will go on as scheduled.

The tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Park Square. Participants are asked to bring non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Christian Center’s food pantry.

The Taconic High School chorus will perform traditional carols and holiday songs, and Santa will arrive after lighting ceremony.

Hot chocolate will be available courtesy of Patrick’s Pub.

The event, which runs from 5 to 8 p.m., will feature dozens of artists’ work on display in more than 20 locations in downtown Pittsfield’s Upstreet Cultural District. For information call (413) 443-6501.
