To the editor of THE EAGLE

In response to a recent incident at the Pittsfield Family YMCA, I can assure the community that the YMCA is a safe facility for youth, family and adult activities. We find the recent incident at the YMCA to be unacceptable and are cooperating with the Pittsfield Police Department as they continue their investigation.

If you are unaware, the YMCA has cameras located throughout the facility to monitor activities, and we operate within the parameters of a school zone with our educational programs. While this incident is isolated, we take it very seriously.

Thus, effective immediately, all gymnasium activities will be org anized and supervised. Eff ective Jan. 2, a new guest pass policy will be established only permitting member use after 6 p.m.

In addition, guest passes will only be available for purchase to those of at least 25 years old. All guests will be required to show a picture ID, and personal information will be stored in our database.

The Pittsfield Family YMCA serves the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
