PITTSFIELD -- Four different swimmers were double winners as the St. Joseph girls earned their first dual win in two years on Monday, 91-79 over Taconic.

The Taconic boys team, led by George Sommerville, defeated St. Joseph 101-93.

Aileen Archambault in the 200 and 500 freestyle, Katie Nugai in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, Theresa Kirsimagi in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly and Jessie Tobin in the 100 free and 100 backstroke were all winners for the Crusaders.

St, Joseph also won the 200 and 400 free relays.

"The relays were big for us," said Crusader coach Shannon McMahon. "And we had a bunch of double winners."

"It was a close meet," said Taconic coach Marisa Plant. "We were ahead for most of it and then they picked up wins in the 500 free and the 200 free relay, and that turned it around."

Gillian Campbell qualified for the Western Mass. meet in the 100 free and 100 backstroke.

In the boys' meet, Sommerville picked up wins in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly, both in Western Mass. qualifying times. Taconic's Quinton Cookis, in the 200 and 500 free, was also a double winner.

George is so versatile, I can put him just about anywhere," said Plant. "Today, he drew the 200 IM and 100 fly straws."
