An open letter to Congress and the president:
Trust. A simple little five-letter word, yet the singular most important element of any government, particularly that of a free people. It is the keystone in the arch of liberty. Read, carefully, the dictionary words that define the concept: Trust (trust) n "Confidence in the truth of anything, as in the integrity, friendship, etc., of another; faith; confident expectation; he who, or that which, is given or received in confidence."
Trust; the very essence of society. When it is violated, it disappears and chaos and cynicism reign in its place. The mightiest of nations fall in its absence. It must be guarded and protected at all costs and at all times with the utmost care deserving of the rarest and most precious of jewels and treasures. To fail to protect and maintain it is to fail in all things.
You, the guardians of our public trust, have failed. You have lied to us and misled us, and divided us with your phony and deceptive slogans and mantras, all the while plotting destruction behind the scenes and maneuvering and deal-making with your criminal cronies and committing juvenile acts of petty partisanship and retribution. You insult those whom you were elected to serve by substituting gamesmanship for governance; policy for pragmatism and by distorting fact and corrupting truth for political and personal gain.
You have polluted the hallowed halls of our great nation's government and harmed the innocent and vulnerable with your lies, half-truths and false promises and your turbid and inept acts. Like greedy, fat worms, you have gnawed the fabric of our freedom and trust and turned them into tattered rags. You have proven yourselves utterly dishonest and totally unworthy to govern.
You must be removed from office. You will be removed from office and our nation healed, so help us God.
