LANESBOROUGH -- Three people injured in a two-car crash in Lanesborough on Thursday night in which a car caught fire are in stable condition, and one victim has been released from the hospital, according to Lanesborough police.

Two of the victims were transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where they were in stable condition, Lanesborough Police Investigator Tim Sorrell said.

The driver of the vehicle they were in, was still at Berkshire Medical Center on Saturday, but was in stable condition.

The driver and lone occupant of the second vehicle has been released from Berkshire Medical Center, Sorrell said.

Police are not releasing the names of the victims at this time and the crash is still under investigation.

The two vehicles collided head on Thursday night after 7:30 p.m. on the Route 7 and Route 8 Connector Road near the Berkshire Mall. The accident followed a day in which light snow had been steadily falling. Speed was also considered to be a possible factor, according to police.

One of the vehicles caught on fire and several passers-by helped pull the occupants out.
