LENOX -- Kris Vahle had a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Lenox boys basketball team to its fifth win of the year, 88-62 over McCann Tech.
The game was tied at 38-38 at halftime when the Millionaires outscored the Hornets 24-11 in the third quarter.
"McCann came out and played hard," Lenox coach Scott Sibley said. "It took us a while to get going. In that third quarter, I thought we pressured their guards pretty well."
Girls basketball: Longmeadow 64, Pittsfield 49
PITTSFIELD -- The Generals, despite early foul trouble, hung in with the visitors for a half, but couldn't stay with them in the second half.
"They just made more shots than we did in the second half," said Pittsfield coach Joe Racicot. "We played pretty well, but so did they."
Peyton Steinman led the Generals with 14 points, while Teagan Northrup led all scorers with 20.
Lee 48, Lenox 43
LEE -- The Wildcats got balanced scoring to hand Lenox the loss.
"We had pretty even scoring," said Lee assistant Jim Feeley. "We wanted to contain [Lenox center Liz] Mitts and we did fairly well."
Mitts led all scorers with 21. Lee's Alyssa Kelly has 12 to lead the winners.
McCann Tech 42, Greenfield 35
GREENFIELD -- The Hornets quickly realized Emijah Barton had a mismatch down low, and they took advantage.
McCann ran through its sets an extra time to open up space down low to feed Barton. She rarely missed in accumulating a game-high 18 points.
"Between her and Eileen [Zajac], we pulled down a good three-quarters of the rebounds," coach Mike Dowling said.
While Barton was having her way on the inside, the Hornets were causing havoc for Greenfield's offense. The Green Wave registered only 11 points in the first half, one less than McCann scored in the first quarter.
"We have a nice little diamond press," Dowling said. "It definitely caused this team fits."
The win completes a three-game week for McCann, which went 3-0.
