WINDSOR - A large party at a residence on Windsor Pond Road early on Saturday morning turned into a crime scene after a man was stabbed twice in the leg in a fight, according to Windsor police. A gunshot was also reported at about 2:30 a.m.

The victim was taken to Berkshire Medical Center where he was treated for his wounds.

The party, held in a house located on a dirt road, was attended by 80 to 100 people, Windsor Police Chief Peter Pyskaty said. The homeowner's son hosted the party and most of the attendees were in their early 20s, Pyskaty said.

"After the gunshot, everybody scattered and took off," Pyskaty said.

Nobody was struck by the bullet and it wasn't immediately clear where the shot was fired from.

The incident occurred on the first floor of the house. State police detectives interviewed more than two-dozen witnesses, but none could identify the assailant, Pyskaty said. Police are still hoping to get a better description from the victim.

Windsor police chased down six men who allegedly fled the scene in a Jeep. Police found them hiding down the road, behind a residence, Pyskaty said. The men were questioned and searched but no arrests were made.

State police, Windsor police, Plainfield Police and EMS personnel responded to the incident. The dirt road was so badly maintained that police and emergency responders had difficulty reaching the scene. The victim had to be transported from the residence in a pickup truck, Pyskaty said.

"There was a considerable amount of blood in the pickup truck," Pyskaty said.

No further information about the victim's identity, condition or the circumstances regarding the stabbing were immediately available. State police are handling the investigation.
