PITTSFIELD -- Two Adams residents have been released after denying their roles in connection with the theft of more than $20,000 in rare coins.
Adam Filby, 29, of Thompson Street, was arrested in November selling collectible coins that allegedly were stolen during an earlier break-in at an Adams home involving Alyssa Wylde, 22, of Maple Street.
Filby and another man, David Biros, were allegedly working as a team selling items, including stolen coins, on eBay. They were arrested November 13 after members of the Berkshire County Law Enforcement Task Force executed a search warrant at their Thompson Street residence and turned up several collectable coins, oxycodone, and more than $7,000 in cash, police said.
Biros was described by police as a "fence" for stolen property.
Filby, appearing with his attorney, Richard S. Taskin, pleaded not guilty in Berkshire Superior Court on Tuesday to single charges of possession of stolen property over $250 and illegal possession of oxycodone. He was released by Judge John A. Agostini on $500 cash or $5,000 surety bail.
He was originally charged with three counts of carrying a dangerous weapon, but he wasn't indicted on those charges.
Wylde, represented by attorney Marc C. Vincelette Sr., pleaded not guilty to single counts of larceny from a building and malicious destruction of personal property (a safe). She remains free on personal recognizance.
Biros was arraigned in Superior Court late last month on charges of being a common receiver of stolen goods and receiving stolen property over $250. He had been held at the Berkshire County Jail & House of Correction on $5,000 bail, but he has since been released.
All three have a March pretrial hearing date.
Biros' 24-year-old daughter, Kristina Biros, also was arrested in the November raid and charged with possession of a class B substance and carrying a dangerous weapon.
She hasn't been arraigned in Superior Court.
The investigation was conducted by members of the Adams Police Department.
