CLARKSBURG -- The town's long-time administrative assistant will serve as town administrator until the Selectmen choose a new one.

Deborah Choquette was appointed as interim town administrator by Selectmen this week -- the eighth time she's been asked to fill the position.

"She really knows her stuff, and obviously she's done it before," Selectmen Chairwoman Lily Kuzia said.

Current Town Administrator Thomas Webb, who has held the title since June 2012, announced his retirement on Jan. 15. He is currently using two weeks of vacation time, and his last day is March 3.

An interim administrator cannot begin while the current administrator is still employed with the town, Kuzia noted.

"So she [Choquette] will be there on March 4," she said.

Selectmen have already begun conducting interviews to fill the town administrator position. The process kicked off last week, with the board reviewing three candidates for the post: Mark Pruhenski, of Great Barrington, Craig Kleman. of Greenfield, and John Sanguinet, of Plymouth. Two more interviews will be conducted at Thursday, March 6 starting at 5:30 p.m.
