PITTSFIELD -- A Boston man is being held on $5,000 bail on charges he allegedly dealt cocaine and heroin out of a car in Pittsfield.

Justin James, 40, was arrested by Pittsfield police in January after reports of drug dealers operating out of a Volkswagen with New Jersey plates. Police allegedly located the vehicle on West Street during the afternoon.

After pulling over the car, police immediately arrested two men inside. While searching James, police allegedly uncovered bags of heroin, cocaine and marijuana.

After a strip search of James, police allegedly found 42 bags of cocaine and 28 bags of heroin on him. Police also searched his phone to allegedly find messages from those asking for drugs.

Police estimated that James had between $1,680 and $2,100 worth of cocaine on him, and $280 worth of heroin.

James pleaded not guilty in Berkshire Superior Court on Friday. Judge John Agostini remanded him to the Berkshire County Jail & House of Correction on $5,000 bail.
