NEW ASHFORD -- A two-vehicle accident on Route 7 Monday morning caused traffic detours from Lanesborough to Williamstown.

The accident, which occurred around 7 a.m., is still under investigation by state police. The circumstances involving the incident remain unclear.

State police have confirmed that the crash did result in injuries, but they were not considered life threatening.

Police and emergency responders from Williamstown, Lanesborough and New Ashford provided mutual aid to police who responded from the Cheshire barracks.

Traffic was detoured around the area for about two hours after the incident, via Route 43, from the intersection of Route 7 and Hancock Road in Williamstown, to the intersection of Route 7 and Brodie Mountain Road in Lanesborough.
