PITTSFIELD -- A New Marlborough man already facing charges for allegedly molesting a teenager is facing similar charges involving a second person.

Eric J. Cohen, 55, is accused of raping a girl, who is now 33, in North Adams in the early 1990s.

The complaining witness was approximately 11 when the alleged abuse began. Prosecutors say it went on for about two years, from Jan. 1, 1992 to May 20, 1994.

Cohen was arraigned in Superior Court on Feb. 27 on rape and abuse charges involving a 15-year-old girl.

In that case, he allegedly sexually assaulted the girl over about a two-year period, from Sept. 1, 2012 to Jan. 12 of this year. Police say the crimes took place in New Marlborough.

During a court appearance on Feb. 19, Assistant Berkshire District Attorney Rachael Eramo told the court that Cohen assaulted the girl "repeatedly."

He pleaded not guilty in that case to four counts of rape and abuse of a child aggravated by an age difference, two counts of indecent assault on a person 14 or older and a single count of indecent assault and battery of a person under 14.

Appearing with his attorney, Nathaniel K. Green, Cohen pleaded not guilty in Berkshire Superior Court on Monday to four counts of rape of a child with force and a single count of assault with the intent to commit rape.

He is being held at the Berkshire County Jail & House of Correction on $25,000 cash bail.

Judge John Agostini ordered that if he made bail he must stay away from the alleged victims.

The investigations were conducted by state police detectives assigned to the District Attorney's Office.
