WILLIAMSTOWN -- Waubeeka Golf Links could have a new owner by early next week.

North Adams developer Michael Deep said on Friday that he has a purchase and sales agreement with James Goff, the current owner of the 18-hole public golf course on Route 7.

Deep, the owner of Deep Associates Insurance Agency in North Adams, said he and Goff initially hoped to have the deal finalized sometime Friday, but it was more likely to be completed by Wednesday of next week.

"Right now, we're going through a lot of paperwork," Deep said.

He declined to disclose the amount of the sale.

Goff and his wife, Jody, purchased the 190-acre course on New Ashford Road from the Stawarz Family Estate in 2008 for $4.2 million. The course underwent major renovations, which included a redesigned back nine that includes several completely new holes, and a large practice area that includes an all-grass driving range, practice bunkers and a large putting green.

The course was placed on the market for $5 million in 2012 with the family citing changing priorities.

In an August news release, Goff said the asking price had been reduced to $3.5 million after a previous deal to sell the property had fallen through. The course has been listed with Alton & Westall Real Estate of Williamstown.
