To the editor of THE EAGLE:

Judging by Boston Globe writer Joan Vennochi’s commentary ("Latest victim of the NRA," Eagle op-ed, March 25), the NRA should not oppose the nomination of Dr. Vivek Murthy as surgeon general. This, despite Murthy’s 2012 tweet in which the physician wrote he was "tired of politicians playing politics w/guns, putting lives at risk b/c they’re scared of the NRA. Guns are a health hazard."

Really Dr. Murthy? Guns are certainly a health hazard to innocent citizens who are confronted by evil people who take advantage of helpless, unarmed citizens.

We protect animals when their numbers are low, and put them on an endangered list. Consider that each individual is unique, a one of a kind (an endangered species if you will), and it behooves us to take advantage of our basic civil right as outlined by the Second Amendment to preserve our existence. Guns are the antibiotic to evil-doers.
