To the editor of THE EAGLE:

Last year my wife and I had just bought coffee and were entering the Mahaiwe for the annual Great Barrington Town Meeting. We suddenly got stopped at the theater ent-
rance and were told we couldn’t enter with our drinks. Then I noticed the sign "No food or drink in the theater." So to attend we had to drink it fast or throw our coffee away.

Upon entering the theater we noticed everyone on stage had bottled water and candy! So you are asking your constituents not to eat and drink in the theater but it’s all right for board members to do so.

Then there is the parking issue. Where? There was a noise issue also, as rude people were outside the back of the theater talking and laughing loudly and making it almost impossible to hear.

The Mahaiwe is a beautiful theater and I understand management doesn’t want to take a chance on damaging its seats and floors. We had a very good venue at Monument Mountain so why did we have to change? Plenty of parking and accommodations for larger crowds with no fees.

We have been attending the meetings for over 20 years. The town has lost two votes at the meeting as my wife and I will not attend unless it is moved back to Monument Mountain.
