To the editor of THE EAGLE:

Earth Day is approaching and with each passing year there are increasing concerns about the environmental degradation we’re witnessing. Gas-burning vehicles are blamed for the carbon dioxide load but they are not the only contributor.

The rain forest (acknowledged as the "lungs of the earth") is being unnecessarily slashed and burned for grazing. Earth’s water is being compromised everywhere and, yet, one of the biggest culprits goes unaddressed.

What can we as individuals do? Come to the Pittsfield Public Library tonight at 7 p.m. for the documentary film "Meat the Truth." It’s free and so are the refreshments.
