PITTSFIELD -- Pittsfield's girls doubles teams came through at the right time for the Generals to earn their first tennis win of the season on Monday.

The Generals' teams of Amanda Miller and Anna Worley, and Anna Black and Kaitlyn Barcus, prevailed in their matches to give PHS a 3-2 win over Taconic at Reid Middle School.

"The match of the day really came at second doubles," PHS coach Jennifer Paskowski said. "That was the deciding match. I kept trying to remind my players that this [third set] was a clean slate. Don't get too comfortable with the score if you're ahead."

Black and Barcus held off Jackie Kays and Nyanna Slaughter 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.

Isabelle George and Angela O'Neil earned singles wins for Taconic, with Taylor Turner winning at No. 3 singles for Pittsfield (1-3).

SHEFFIELD -- Lee's depth was too much for a short-handed Mount Everett team. Everett forfeited its No. 2 doubles point because it did not have enough players to fill the spot.

Lee won every match except No. 2 singles, where Maya Neski won 6-2, 6-3 over Julie LePrevost.

PITTSFIELD -- A strong offensive first half led Pittsfield to a victory. The Generals (1-2, 1-2) had three players with multiple goals, led by Makenzi Astore with three. Alyssa Kelly led Lee with three goals.

PITTSFIELD -- A seven-point second quarter allowed Pittsfield to hold off a Wahconah comeback.

Pittsfield (2-1, 2-1) took a three-goal lead into the fourth quarter, and Nikolai Pixley made key saves to keep Pittsfield ahead. He made 21 saves.
