To the editor of THE EAGLE:

In Tuesday’s Eagle, there was that iconic photo of Donald Sterling, NBA Clippers honcho, with arms draped over his big belly. It brought back memories of a Texas exchange I had years ago when attending as a spouse a Southern garment makers association conference.

A Texan, of surprisingly similar build (his Christmas card was a photo of himself and his wife with a bull between them, behind a corral fence) smiled and said to me, "You’re a mighty nice girl but you couldn’t belong to ma club." I smiled back and said, "I don’t want to belong to your club."
