To the editor of THE EAGLE:

I went to the Beacon Theater in the first week of its opening, hoping to encourage a new business in town. It had been about two weeks after knee replacement surgery. I was walking with a cane.

When the movie was over I navigated toward the elevator to exit and was blocked by an attendant: "The elevator is only for disabled people." I told him I recently had knee replacement surgery and I came up the elevator -- why can’t I go down it? His response was the same.

This occurred about four years ago. I haven’t been back. With this kind of business acumen, which apparently continues, I’m surprised it’s still in business. Just a matter of time.
