To the editor of THE EAGLE:

As proud parents of two young men in the U.S. Army, we would like to send our sincere gratitude for our veterans services programs and concerned citizens in our community.

Our son had a terrible incident happen to him while traveling to his duty station. He had his vehicle stolen with his entire life inside it! The vehicle was recovered a week later, all banged up, and with everything stripped from it. He lost his dress uniform, all military uniforms, boots, laptop, passport, military ID, military orders, and so on. He was left with the clothes on his back, his wallet, his dog and $2 in his pocket! What a nightmare for this young man.

The Here at Home Comm-
ittee immediately initiated a fundraiser and made a significant contribution to help him recover some of his losses. With this fundraiser came donations from total strangers, friends, churches, Legions, businesses and veterans. It is nice to know that people really do care, and this was extremely comforting to us knowing he had some help.

He has since made it to his destination, in a rental car nonetheless, and is settling in! Thanks again, and God bless the USA!
