To the editor of THE EAGLE:

This past weekend, I had the displeasure of having to drive through Pittsfield intersections at South Street and another at East Street only to be inundated by high school kids running among the traffic asking for donations for what I do not know. Hard to believe that parents and school officials allow this type of unsafe action to raise funds. It seems this was an accident waiting to happen.

Why do the people in charge think it is acceptable to have kids standing and running around in traffic with a bucket asking everyone to give? Are we training for the future that if you need something just stand with your hand out? What happened to a little work for a donation?

I wonder what the local police would do if a dozen or so senior citizens decided to do this to help their fixed income?
