PITTSFIELD -- Work has resumed on the 95-room Hilton Garden Inn hotel on a 2.4-acre site at 1032 South St.
The project had been delayed since last year while the developer, Vijaysinh Mahida and his Prem Management LLC fought off a court challenge focusing on access to a common 270-foot right of way to the parcel -- located behind Guido’s Fresh Marketplace.
The $8.1 million Hilton inn is designed to have 64,148 square feet of space on four floors.
A spokesman for the developer said this week that rock ledge has been blasted and crushed and the site leveled, and foundations will begin to be poured starting next week. Construction is on track for an opening of the hotel in May 2015, the spokesman said.
The developer has posted further information on the project on the website, www.berkshirehiltongardeninn.com.
