LENOX -- A Great Barrington man is due in Southern Berkshire District Court on Monday to face charges that he was dealing marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms, according to Lenox Police Chief Stephen O'Brien.

Graham Bryce, 23, was driving on West Mountain Road at the Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary on Sunday afternoon when he was stopped by Lenox Police Officers John Willey and Michael Smith.

"They observed a motor vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed, flagged it down and found that the operator had alcohol in a glass container between his legs and an overpowering stench of unburnt marijuana was emitting from the vehicle," O'Brien said.

Following a field sobriety test, the officers searched the vehicle "after developing requisite probable cause," the chief said.

They found 12 ounces of marijuana and a half pound of hallucinogenic mushrooms, according to the police report. The marijuana was independently bagged, indicating an intent to distribute, O'Brien added. The officers also confiscated more than $5,000 in cash.

Bryce was arraigned on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, a class D substance misdemeanor, and possession with intent to distribute the hallucinogenic mushrooms, a class C substance felony, and released on $500 bail.
