WOBURN (AP) -- A woman whose husband died awaiting trial on child sex abuse charges has pleaded guilty to putting some of the victims at risk in her child care business.

The Middlesex district attorney’s office said 48-year-old Marian Burbine of Wakefield pleaded guilty Friday to six counts of reckless endangerment of a child and operating an unlicensed day care business. Sentencing is June 23.

John Burbine died in March when his attorney said he apparently tried to commit suicide in jail. Burbine pleaded not guilty in 2012 to raping and sexually abusing children. Prosecutors said 13 young children, including infants. Prosecutors said most were assaulted in their homes, and many recorded, when he was substituting for his wife as their caregiver.

Prosecutors don’t believe Marian Burbine knew about the abuse, but did know her husband was a convicted child molester.
