PITTSFIELD -- A 29-year-old Pittsfield woman has been sentenced to 60 days in jail and must register as a sex offender for molesting a teenage boy.
According to police and prosecutors, Tanya L. Miranda, of Franco Terrace, approached a then 13-year-old boy last August, told him he was attractive, grabbed the back of his head and began kissing him. He pushed her away, telling her, "I'm only 13."
Miranda told him she didn't care, blocked his way, pulled down her pants, pinned the boy against a fence and again kissed him. She then groped him, according to a Pittsfield Police report.
Police said the teenager was able to get away from her, ran inside his home and locked the door. He eventually told his mother what happened.
On Monday in the Jury of Six session of Central Berkshire District Court, Miranda pleaded guilty to a single count of indecent assault and battery on a person under 14. She said she had been so intoxicated at the time that she had no memory of the event. She has since gone through alcohol treatment.
Her attorney, Joseph P. Colonna, asked the court to give his client a continuation without a finding of guilt and two years of probation for the charge.
Assistant Berkshire District Attorney Daniel Hespeler asked for 60 days in jail in the case.
The victim did not make a statement in court, but agreed with the prosecution's recommendation.
