ADAMS -- A local man has been arrested for a pair of break-ins in town that occurred over the last month.

According to Adams Police Dept. Detective Lawrence T. Ordyna, 32-year-old Gregory Kochanski was arrested and charged with two counts of larceny from a building, and one count each of breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony, breaking and entering in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony and willful and malicious destruction of property.

Kochanski was released on personal recognizance. He will be arraigned today in Northern Berkshire District Court.

The first break-in happened on May 22 at a private residence on Pine Street. Jewelry and DVDs were among the items taken.

The second crime occurred on June 12, when officers of the Adams Police Dept. discovered a break-in at the Mobil Gas Station on Commercial Street at about 1:30 a.m. The cash register was stolen. Entry was achieved by forcing the rear door.

Ordyna added that investigation into both robberies are ongoing and further arrests may be forthcoming.
