BRIMFIELD, Mass. (AP) -- A fire official confirms that a child has died in a head-on collision in Brimfield.

Fire Chief Frederick Piechota said Sunday that his department has been notified that one child died as a result of the crash just before 5 p.m. Friday.

He had no details on the age, gender or name of the child.

Authorities say six people were injured in the crash on Route 20.

Piechota tells The Telegram & Gazette (http://bit.ly/1qE8yvq) that four of the victims were children and two were adults. All were taken to area hospitals.

The crash remains under investigation.
