SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) -- A Dalton man has pleaded guilty to federal child pornography charges.

Federal prosecutors say 25-year-old Jared Sprague pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Springfield to a charge of possessing child pornography.

Sprague’s home was raided by federal agents in 2012 after an investigation into the exchange, distribution and possession of child pornography through an online peer-to-peer file sharing program.

Investigators discovered approximately 100 files of child pornography, including files that involved prepubescent minors subjected to sadistic or violent sexual conduct on a computer in the home.

Sprague is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 7. He faces between four years and six-and-a-half years in prison.
