PITTSFIELD -- A New York woman is facing charges, including motor vehicle homicide, in connection with the death of a city motorcyclist last week.

Shannon Curtiss, 31, of Stephentown, was trying to make a left turn from North Street onto Springside Avenue about 1 p.m. July 15 when her 2004 Ford Focus was struck by a motorcycle driven by John J. Kenney Jr., 49, of Norman Avenue.

Kenny, who was riding a 2002 Suzuki VL800, was rushed to Berkshire Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after the crash.

Curtiss also faces a charge of failure to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic. She will answer to the charges at a later date in Central Berkshire District Court, according to Investigating Officer Jeffrey Coco.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Coco at (413) 448-9700, ext. 338.
