SPRINGFIELD, MASS. >> A jury has acquitted a Springfield man whose truck was involved in a fatal crash that killed a teenager.
Rafael Perez owned a truck from which sofa cushions and other furniture fell onto Interstate 91 in Longmeadow on Nov. 10, 2013.
Authorities said a Jeep driven by 17-year-old Skyler Anderson-Coughlin of Springfield was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer, sent into the back of Perez's truck and burst into flames, killing the teen.
Prosecutors said the furniture caused a chain reaction crash that resulted in the teen's death.
