SPRINGFIELD, MASS. >> The former manager of an East Longmeadow retirement community has been sentenced to more than four years in prison for embezzling about $325,000 from the facility.

Alice Lacroix was also sentenced Monday in federal court in Springfield to three years of probation and was ordered to pay restitution.

The 54-year-old Lacroix pleaded guilty in July to multiple counts of wire fraud, money laundering and filing false tax returns.

Prosecutors say from 2011 until 2013, while she was manager of Bluebird Estates, Lacroix took tenants' rent checks and other funds and property that belonged to her employer and deposited the money into a bank account she established in the facility's name without her employer's knowledge or authorization. She then disguised the transactions to deceive her employer.
