BOSTON >> A former nanny for a Boston family has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $280,000 from her employers and using the money on vacations, jewelry and other luxuries.

Stephanie Lee Fox, of Randolph, pleaded guilty Tuesday to three counts of bank fraud.

Federal prosecutors say the 30-year-old Fox stole 65 checks from the family, forged the woman's signature, cashed the checks in up to $9,785, and then shredded bank statements to conceal the thefts.

Fox was hired to care for the couple's two children.

She was also ordered to repay the money.

Her lawyer says she has "taken responsibility" but is currently unemployed.

Prosecutors say Fox has already turned over three Movado watches and a diamond pendant she bought with the money.

She is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 18.
