EAST BROOKFIELD, MASS. >> A Leicester man allegedly caught with unlicensed firearms after a nearly 24-hour manhunt last weekend has been ruled too dangerous to release.
Dean Largesse was held without bail at a dangerousness hearing Thursday.
Police went to Largesse's home at about 12:30 a.m. last Saturday after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend.
His roommate told police that Largesse was gone.
He avoided capture, at one point stealing a boat to row across a lake, until he was caught Saturday night in Royalston, about 35 miles away.
Police say they also found unlicensed weapons and ammunition in his home.
The Telegram & Gazette reports that Largesse's lawyer noted that his client was apprehended without incident, and asked he be released on "reasonable" bail into the custody of his father.
