SPRINGFIELD >> A Springfield man has pleaded guilty to charges he accepted a package containing cocaine at his home in 2014.

The Republican reports 33-year-old Angel Candelaria entered the plea to cocaine trafficking and firearm possession charges on Tuesday in Hampden Superior Court.

The judge agreed to accept a recommended sentence of five to seven years in state prison.

Authorities say postal inspectors in Puerto Rico found a package addressed to Candelaria's home that contained more than eight pounds of cocaine. The package was then delivered to the home by a postal inspector posing as a delivery worker.

Prosecutors say a search of Candelaria's home found a handgun with ammunition.
