FALL RIVER, MASS. >> A Massachusetts woman has pleaded not guilty to stealing nearly $2.4 million from the real estate development company where she worked for nearly three decades.

The Herald News reports that Suzanne Coriaty was granted $1,500 bail at her arraignment Wednesday on larceny and making false entries in corporate books charges.

Prosecutors say the 59-year-old Somerset woman embezzled money from Fall River-based First Bristol Corp. from 2007 until 2015.

Coriaty allegedly used company checks to pay for her personal credit cards.

Prosecutors say she also made out company checks to herself drawn on the company's payroll account and made it appear like those checks would be payable to other employees.

Coriaty, who supervised the company's bookkeeping staff, was fired in November.
