MALTA, N.Y. >> State police say an upstate New York man stabbed his 70-year-old father with a knife and barricaded himself inside their home over the weekend.
Police say Ronald Paige violated a judge's order to stay away from his father on Saturday and stabbed the man several times during an argument at their mobile home in the town of Malta.
The 40-year-old man faces several felony charges, including assault.
Authorities say the victim, whose name wasn't released, ran to a neighbor for help. He's in stable condition at an area hospital.
Police negotiators say they were able to take Paige into custody without further incident.
Paige is being held Monday in the Saratoga County Jail on $40,000 cash or $80,000 bond. He's expected in a Malta courtroom on Thursday.
It wasn't immediately known if Paige has a lawyer.
