SALEM >> A Quincy man who played a role in the bludgeoning and stabbing death of an Ipswich restaurant owner during a failed robbery has been convicted of first-degree murder.

A Salem Superior Court jury on Wednesday found Sifa Lee guilty in the September 2011 death of Shui Keung "Tony" Woo inside the Majestic Dragon restaurant.

The 38-year-old Lee is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday.

Three men beat and stabbed the 62-year-old Woo in an attempt to force him to open the restaurant's safe, but he never did and the thieves left empty-handed. Woo, who lived in Quincy, often slept at the restaurant.

A co-defendant, Cheng Sun, was convicted of first-degree murder in February. Another co-defendant, Jun Di Lin, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in 2014 and cooperated with authorities.
