WATERTOWN, MASS. >> A two-alarm blaze ripped through a multi-family home in suburban Boston over the weekend, destroying the building's first floor and displacing five residents.
Lt. Chris Munger says firefighters in Watertown were notified of the fire on Howard Street around 5:55 p.m. Sunday. The flames were contained to the first floor of the structure and the blaze was knocked down in about an hour.
The first floor is considered a total loss. No further information regarding damage to the property was available.
Munger says a preliminary investigation has found that the fire may have been accidentally started by a homeowner working on the building.
No injuries were reported. An investigation into the cause of the blaze is ongoing.
