BOSTON >> A Suffolk County corrections officer has pleaded not guilty to a charge of improper sexual conduct with an inmate.
Twenty-nine-year-old Marlon Juba was arraigned Thursday in South Boston. Bail was set at $20,000 cash.
Prosecutors say surveillance footage from May 10 shows Juba enter the female inmate's cell in the Suffolk County House of Corrections at South Bay. They say the video shows Juba exit the cell about 15 minutes later with his belt unbuckled. The inmate allegedly told authorities that she and Juba had sex while he was in her cell.
Juba's attorney says his client was in good standing with the facility and had no criminal record.
Suffolk County suspended Juba on June 3. He will remain suspended pending the investigations. He's due back in court Aug. 23.
