TAUNTON (AP) -- Police believe speed was a factor in a one-car crash in southeastern Massachusetts that killed two teenagers and injured four other people.
Authorities say Taunton residents Jason Neto and Eden Macedo, both 18, died after their car hit a tree off Bay Street shortly before 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Neto was back-seat passenger and Macedo was a front-seat passenger.
Also injured were the driver, 24-year-old Nicholas Costa of Taunton, and three other passengers, 18-year-old Ashley Rivera, 21-year-old Jose Rodriguez and 18-year-old Chelsea Crancha. All are hospitalized.
Costa’s condition hasn’t been released. Rivera and Crancha are reported in fair condition and Rodriguez is listed in good condition.
Police haven’t announced any criminal charges.
Police say they found a bottle of vodka in the car and are investigating whether alcohol was a factor.
