BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) -- An organization of Jewish students at an upstate New York college is trying to put a new spin on a world record.
The Chabad Center for Jewish Student Life at Binghamton University says it got enough people together Monday to simultaneously spin more than 749 dreidels, the four-sided top and traditional Hanukkah diversion, and break a Guinness World Record.
Guinness says the current record is 734 dreidels spinning at once for at least 10 seconds, a mark set by a United Synagogue Youth group in Philadelphia last December.
The Binghamton organizers will provide photos, video and other documentation for review before the record is confirmed.
The event culminated a drive that raised $10,000 worth of toys for kids with cancer.
