BOSTON (AP) - Gov. Deval Patrick is hosting the president of Peru in Boston.

President Ollanta Humala (oh-YAHN'-tah oo-MAH'-lah) will meet Patrick at the Statehouse early Wednesday afternoon. Humala is in the Boston area to sign cooperation agreements with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

President Barack Obama is also expected to be in Boston on Wednesday for a fundraiser for Democratic Senate candidate U.S. Rep. Ed Markey. Obama and Humala met at the White House on Tuesday, and aren't expected to cross paths again in Boston.

Humala is making a three-day visit to the U.S., his first official trip since being elected in 2011.

Patrick led a trade mission to Colombia in February and has made similar visits to Brazil and Chile, working to expand trade with South American partners. He has not yet made an official visit to Peru.
