Storms forecast for Friday resulted in postponements and cancellations for area Fourth of July events.
Lowell moved its fireworks to Saturday night, Pelham moved its fireworks to July 12, and Dracut has pushed its back until Aug. 28.
Wilmington's fireworks will blast off as scheduled Saturday night.
Nashua's fireworks at Holman Stadium have been moved to Saturday night.
The Lowell fireworks originally slated for Friday evening will be held at 9 p.m. Saturday at LeLacheur Park at 450 Aiken St. Admission to the stadium is free and gates open at 7 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service, Greater Lowell is expected to receive 1 to 3 inches of rain into Friday evening. A flash flood watch is in effect until 2 a.m. on Saturday.
Unlike some coastal communities, wind is not an issue for Greater Lowell, according to Kim Buttrick, meteorologist at the National Weather Service.
She said the rain should taper off after midnight Friday.
"It's then shaping up to be a good weekend," she said. "Dry weather, less humidity with near seasonal temperatures in the 80s."
