I would like to voice my opinion about the service fees that Tanglewood is charging for concert tickets. While I accept a processing charge is normal, what I do find unacceptable is that the charge is not per transaction, rather it is per ticket and $6.25 per ticket. Therefore, the cost of four lawn tickets at $25 each will cost me an additional $25, the price of another ticket.

I would gladly drive to the Lenox box office to purchase my tickets in person, but unfortunately, that office does not open until the day before the concert. Considering I live in the area of Tanglewood’s summer home I find it even more distasteful that I am being charged such an astronomical fee to support this local venue. I am prepared to run the risk of the concert selling out because I have no intention of supporting such a distasteful practice.

I wonder how many other potential patrons from the Berkshires feel the same way because they, like me, cannot afford to pay for such extortion.
