When someone understands how precious all human life is, created by God in His image and likeness, we must do all that is necessary to protect human life.

What a telling remark made by a woman organizer of a rally in Pittsfield for people who owns guns: "This isn’t about dead children this is about punishing law-abiding citizens." Dear neighbors, where is the grief in that remark for the 20 innocent children and all of the children in our beloved nation killed with the bullets of guns?

I write in the hope that some of our neighbors will have a change of mind and heart. We are in a struggle for a culture of life or a culture of death.

At the funeral of Grace, one of the children killed in Newtown, Conn., Grace’s spirit was eternally present. As we live each day, we are entering into eternal life. God tells us, "I put before you life and death -- choose life."

I encourage all men and women of good will, in spite of setbacks and disappointments, to persevere and believe God will bless the work of our minds and hearts.
