To the editor of THE EAGLE:
June 25 is the special election to fill the Massachusetts Senate seat vacated by John Kerry. We have a chance to stand for term limits and vote for someone with no Washington D.C. experience. Someone with new eyes. Someone who is not the "perfect" candidate for either party.
Rep. Markey has been in government for 36 years! He has an address in Massachusetts and shows up now and again. He has voted with his party 99 percent of the time.
I believe in term limits. And we, the voters, can accomplish limits with our votes. Most of us don’t chose to use that power. According to polls, the vast majority of people in the U.S. think Congress is doing a poor job. So why do we re-elect and re-elect? America is in trouble and we need someone other than the same old faces to look for solutions.
Please look at this new face. Gabriel Gomez is the son of Colombian Immigrants. He graduated from the Naval Academy and has an MBA from Harvard. He understands the cost of education and the reality of student loans.
He served in the military as a pilot then as a Navy SEAL. He certainly has the stamina to survive SEAL training and knows first-hand about national security from a perspective very few ever have.
He succeeded in business in Massachusetts and knows first-hand about the difficulties of starting and becoming successful in a state where the business climate is difficult.
I am going to give a new and fresh committed man a chance. It has to be better than the same old tired ideas. Join me in voting in a new voice with new eyes and strong life experiences and not government as usual.
